READ DE TEXT AND FIND OUT ¿WHAT IS A TORNADO?
A tornado is a powerful whirling (=movement of something spinning round and round) wind, accompanied by a funnel-shaped cloud which comes down from the sky. When it actually touches the ground it behaves like a giant vacuum cleaner. It travels at speeds of up to 100 Km/h and the wind inside the tornado can spin at a speed of 480 Km/h. It can actually lift cars, trains and even houses into the air and throw then hundreds of metres away.

wow...with this reading I can understand the magnitude of this natural disaster, and feel a little that the people and their families feeling when this hapen, i understand who have been through this.
natural disasters are occurring continuously and not only because of natural processes but also due to human action, because as you know we manipulate nature to meet our needs, without considering the consequences of the impact we cause doing this.

Oh, and tornadoes are cool, destructive and dangerous but awesome nonetheless.
When I read the magnitude of the tornado and severe disaster can cause, I realize that the force of nature is very big and we are not exempt from a problematic live like this. Also his text helps us understand that we may appreciate what we have, take care for our planet and try to help people who suffer for this type of disaster.
The natural disasters are some consequencies of the global warm which is an actually event that we are living, specifically in Colombia the events that are destructing our cuntry are the floods, but generally the consequencies of the global warm are affecting us directly to our lifes and the lifes of ur more special people, finally i can say that this are phenomenas that had destoyed too much things and lifes around the world.
Currently, the world goes through a series of events unlucky organic, causing death and destruction to our environment and ecosystems. One of the catastrophe more frightening is the tornado that can destroy in seconds what was built in years, leaving death and devastation. But that is not worrying, also there are phenomena of great magnitude as the dramatic temperature change, drought them, tsunami, earthquakes and eruptions of volcanoes. Therefore, these effects are accompanied by the phenomenon that is responsible for all these facts that is global warming which affects everybody.
Thanks to everyone for their valuable contributions. Did you Know? It is difficult for scientists to predict when and where a tornado will appear. However, they have been trying to develop new techonologies to help them learn more about tornadoes. Known as "storm Chasers", these scientists race to put themselves in the path or a tornado to investigate one of nature's biggest mysteries.
I have a friend who survived a natural disaster like these ones, he could escape from the ARMERO TRAGEDY in 1985 and he used to tell me alot of things about that. There are disasters that can not be prebented or controlled but it is possible to monimize their effects with planning and preparation.
It is really sad to see all those people in our country who have lost everything they had because the floodings and some other disasters. And they are always the poorest people.
We discussed about the topic with the teacher and we agreed on the fact that we are not taking care of the planet and we are helping to break the balance and the weather changes and disasters happen. Thanx.
