GOING UP
GOING UP
In 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbed to the top of Mount Everest. The next challenge was to climb it without bottled oxygen. This was the goal of Austrian climbers Peter Habeler and Reinhold Messner. Doctors said they were crazy and told them not to try it. They tried it anyway.
On 8 May 1978, they were about 800 metres from the top of Everest. They woke at 3 a.m. and began preparing. It took them two hours to get dressed. Every breath was precious and they used their hands to communicate. Climbing was slow. Messner thought he was going to burst like a balloon. At 8.800 metres, they stopped and lay down every few steps because of the lack of oxygen. But between one and two in the afternoon they achieved their impossible goal. They reached the top of Mount Everest without oxigen.
Precious= Very valuable and important.

How would you feel about climbing a mountain like Mount Everest?
i can't describe, but i imagine that it feels so well, somehow you will feel excited, apart from fatigue and all the problems that sport brings, ofcourse... that's will be nice.
I appreciate your participation.
I would feel excited, but also scared because climbing high mountains imply high risks, like avalanches and also death because of lack of oxygen and also from hypothermia due to the low temperatures; but althought that it would be awesome to achieve that and also to feel adrenaline runing through my veins.

I'd be very excited due to the risks that climbing the highest mount in the world implies and because of the fame and recognition I'd get. It would also be an unforgettable experience and a really good story to tell at social gatherings.

Must be a pretty nice experience, I know if I propose me climb to the top, I can meet my goal despite problems. Also is a great experience and in a little of sport there is nothing wrong. :)

I do not think I would be able to do such a challenge, I hate heights!!!
It would sure be a nice experience that requires training and preparation. Climbing high mountains would give us the chance to confront new challenges and see how beautiful the world is.
